Arlington House has been an important player in Margate’s culture since being opened in 1964 as a development of luxury seaside apartments. In recent times the tower and surrounding areas have been left to decay in a process said to be more to do with development intent than natural wastage.  The site is currently the subject of an application for redevelopment by the leaseholder Freshwater, who hope to demolish the lower areas and build a large supermarket.  These pages lay out an alternative approach, based on the evidence that the original design is really very good.
